Taking Chances

maggie and milly and molly and may

maggie and milly and molly and may
went down to the beach (to play one day)

and maggie discovered a shell that sang
so sweetly she couldn’t remember her troubles,and

milly befriended a stranded star
whose rays five languid fingers were;

and molly was chased by a horrible thing
which raced sideways while blowing bubbles:and

may came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone.

For whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it’s always ourselves we find in the sea

ee cummings

As an English teacher, I always tell my students there is ee cummings and then there is everyone else. Of all the poets I could pick for this little bit this month, he would not be who I would have chosen. Aren't there better poets out there?  More contemporary?  More intense?  Ones who follow capitalization rules, at the very least?

But it is ee cummings who has come to my mind these past few weeks. I don't know if it is the time of year or all the changes that life brings, but being different, being creative that's where the spark of life exists!

So here's to taking chances, taking risks!  Breaking a few rules!!
Happy Writing, Everyone.
